Though Arts Hub has an activity and meeting room, the existing flooring, which consisted of carpet tiles stuck to a wooden floor, was in a poor state and we had no funds to make it fit for purpose.
In 2022, with financial support from Somerset Community Foundation (£3k) and using CICCIC’s own funds (£1.8k) we were able to replace the floor with quality vinyl. But it wasn’t going to be an easy task or cheap.
The old carpet tiles needed ripping up, which is a challenge in itself, but also the floor needed levelling out by installing sheets of wood on top of the original floor before the vinyl could be laid. Luckily, with the help of a local flooring company we managed to get the right flooring for our budget.
Today, the £4800 investment for this flooring has made a big difference to the room and this alongside the redecoration of the room has made it an ideal space for art exhibitions, activities, events and meetings.
A big thank you goes out to CICCIC director Andrew Knutt and Richard Holt for volunteering their time to apply for funding and organising all of the floor replacement.
