Wow! What a year it has been at Arts Hub, Taunton for Somerset Youth Theatre cic. We’ve been blown away by the creativity of both SYT Group and Company this year and we are so proud to call the Arts Hub our home.
Our SYT-ers recruited and commissioned professional Artists to support their young person-led projects and they’ve thrived! SYT-ers have learnt new skills in performance making, including circus, comedy, site-specific immersive horror Theatre, film-making, puppetry, prop and costume making and, of course, too many games to mention! Mostly though, we’ve absolutely loved seeing new friendships formed and young performers and makers being brave, taking risks and leading the way in making original performance from the Arts Hub base.
There’s something very special about this space. How it changes from the splatter stains of a Home Ed painting class, to a green-screen filled, film making studio. When you give young people the power to own their creativity, to explore new things and support each other to be themselves, and believe in themselves, really incredible and powerful shifts start to happen. Let’s do more of that, please! Bring on 2024 and let’s see what inspiration lies behind the Arts Hub walls in our next year.
